Wildflowers

Wildflowers

Ashlee Boice

I used to think growth happened in ideal conditions. With a clear plan. Plenty of sunlight. The right timing. The right circumstances. The right support.

Then life taught me something different. Some of the strongest things grow in places no one expected them to. Along roadsides. Through cracks in concrete. In fields left untended. Wildflowers don’t wait for perfect conditions. They bloom anyway.

I think that’s why I’ve always loved them. Not because they’re delicate. Because they’re resilient.

They don’t ask permission to exist. They don’t compare themselves to the flowers in carefully cultivated gardens. They simply grow where they are planted and make the most of what they’re given.

The older I get, the more I realize how much wisdom is in that. There were seasons of my life when I believed I needed everything to be figured out before I could move forward. I thought I needed certainty. Confidence. A perfect plan.

What I eventually learned is that growth often begins long before we feel ready. Sometimes all we can do is take the next step. Plant the next seed. Trust the process. And keep showing up.

Looking back, this album was born from one of those seasons. A season of questioning. A season of healing. A season of rebuilding.

There were days I felt lost. Days I doubted myself. Days I wondered if anything meaningful would come from the things I was creating.

But creation has a way of teaching us hope. One photograph. One journal page. One song. One flower. One candle. One soap batch. One small act of care at a time. And before we realize it, something beautiful has begun to grow.

Wildflowers is a reminder that resilience doesn’t always look dramatic. Most of the time it looks ordinary. It looks like continuing. It looks like trying again. It looks like choosing hope when cynicism would be easier. It looks like believing this is still beauty ahead, even after difficult seasons.

If this project had taught me anything, it’s this, we do not have to be untouched by hardship to bloom. We do not have to be fearless to move forward. We do not have to be perfect to create something beautiful.

Like wildflowers, we are allowed to grow in our own way, in our own time, exactly where we are. And sometimes the most extraodinary thing we can do is keep blooming.
